In a ground-breaking initiative, the Punjabi government is providing 15,000 teachers with electric motorcycles around the region.

The programme will be carried out in three phases under the direction of Provincial Education Minister Sikandar Hayat. Initially, 5,000 electric bikes will be given to instructors; in later phases, 10,000 more will be distributed.

The choice to provide teachers with electric bikes would alleviate the financial strain brought on by high gas costs and make the ride to school easier.

It is anticipated that instructors would save money on transit expenses by switching to electric bikes. Minister Hayat highlights the initiative’s benefits for cost-saving and environmental conservation, expressing optimism about its positive impact.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, has launched a registration drive to give 20,000 petrol and electric bikes to college students around the region.

University students will be able to purchase 1,000 e-bikes and 19,000 petrol bikes during the initiative’s first phase. In order to facilitate this, the Punjab government would make the first Rs20,000 down payment for each bike on behalf of the students and subsidise the markup by Rs1 billion.

Bicycles will be delivered in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Rawalpindi during this phase. It is important to note that April 29 is the deadline for submitting an application.
