The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) has today permitted 20% spectators during the sixth seaosn of Pakistan Super League (PSL) group matches, based on a statement issued by Pakistan COVID-19 body.
It has been announced by the NCOC after comprehensive discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the health authorities.
According to the statement: “Review for playoffs in March in view of prevailing positivity ratio at that time,”
Based on this decision, almost 7,500 ticketed spectators will be permitted to be present inside the National Stadium per match day, whereas almost 5,500 will be allowed to be there at each match day at the Gaddafi Stadium.
strict SOPs will have to be followed by the ones coming in during their time at the stadium during PSL matches.
A PCB official stated regarding the whole situation and the implementation of the SOPs “They won’t be allowed to touch the ball, they won’t be able to bring food from outside, they will have to wear a mask and maintain social distance all the time,”
PCB has clarified that the NCOC and the cricket authorities will carry on to work together and keep an eye on the situation before making the decsion to bring up the percentage of crowd numbers for the three playoffs and the final.
Another statement by PCB atated: “The NCOC made the decision following a detailed and comprehensive briefing by the PCB officials, in which they assured that the event organisers and the PCB will strictly follow government COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures, including social distancing,”
