The Pakistan Medical Commission has given approval for 240 more seats for the medical colleges in Punjab after considering all the aspects related to the matter and for the acquirement of the policy that was agreed upon for public colleges, it occurred on Tuesday.
Based on a report, the PMC has allowed increasing of up to 10% of current assigned seats of 13 public colleges while in the case of two colleges, 20% increase was permitted for special reasons, subject to review
Conclusively, 240 seats in a total of 15 public colleges in Punjab remain increased to chiefly accommodate the quota seats which, formerly, had been accommodated in other ways.
The PMC is waiting for any relevant appeals by any of the other provinces, or Azad Jammu and Kashmir, by the end of this month i.e. January 29, 2021 so that it could be brought in action for the 2021 session.
According to the report, this manner of over and above seats shall at no time be acceptable in the coming future, as this has been clarified by the PMC
