Inconveniencing customers, Pakistan International Airlines has had to cancel more than twenty flights, some of which were international, as a result of mounting debts owed by the nation’s flag airline.
A number of PIA flights have been canceled or delayed, putting the nation’s aviation industry in a dire situation. As a result, travelers have been stuck for hours.
According to recent media reports, 16 planes that were scheduled to depart on Sunday from Karachi, the nation’s financial center, to various airports were canceled. Additionally, two flights between Jeddah and Islamabad have been canceled.
This event comes as Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has once again stopped providing fuel to airlines due to the failure to transmit the daily payments necessary to maintain gasoline supplies.
The airline had made a daily payment agreement with a state-owned petroleum business to maintain fuel supplies for critical routes, but the daily payment is still not being transferred.
According to a spokeswoman for the airline, PUA has already paid the PSO Rs 500 million for the supply of fuel, and the national flag carrier is continuing to pay the PSO on a daily basis. However, the PSO is allegedly not thrilled to show mercy to another state entity.
