London Police, previously under more inspection over its actions in breaking up a recently-held watch, detained 36 persons on Saturday for opposing the coronavirus restrictions.
In the UK, coronavirus guidelines ban persons from going out of their houses save for a list of essential matters. Protests are not considered as that of a necessity.
A lot of people were likely to have assembled for the protests, which initiated Saturday noon at Hyde Park.
After the mass walked through central London, a crowd of around 100 came back to the park where police mentioned they tossed missiles at officers.
“Several were injured as a result of targeted assaults,” Deputy Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, who commanded the policing action, said in a statement.
“It is totally unacceptable and saddening that officers enforcing regulations that are there to protect us all were the victims of violent attacks.”
