After normalization of ties between United Arab Emirates and Israel, Al-nasr has become the first Arab club to officially sign an Israeli player. Al-Nasr has signed Diaa Sabia of Israel who belonged to a Chinese club Guangzhou R&F Football Club.
Reportedly the transfer has been made via a $2.9 million contract lasting for two years. Sabia is a 28 years old Israeli attacking midfielder who will now be represented by the UAE club Al-Nasr.
Scoring 18 goals in 36 matches from the Chinese club during Chinese super league, Sabia grabbed Al-Nasr’s attention. Born in northern Israel, Sabia has played from many Israeli football clubs.
An official statement regarding the transfer read: Al-Nasr has completed the procedures with Diaa Saba … in a contract that extends for two seasons after he successfully passed medical examinations this morning,”
After Egypt and Jordan, UAE was the third Arab country to normalize ties with Israel. Now their club, Al-Nasr has become the first Arab club to sign an Israeli player.
