Due to the immoral and indecent content, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has banned the video sharing platform namely TikTok.

PTA issued a final notice to the app stating that they had received numerous complaints regarding the content and the content was actually unmonitored and immoral.

The official notification from the authority read: In view of number of complaints from different segments of the society against immoral/indecent content on the video sharing application TikTok, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued instructions for blocking of the application,”

PTA stated that the video sharing app was given several instructions regarding content moderation but there was no relevant response which led them to finally put a ban on the application in Pakistan. This decision has been taken after Prime minster Imran Khan asked the relevant authorities to take down vulgar content from the platforms as they are the root cause of immorality in the society.
