Pakistan, the country ranked 12th for the most lifetime downloads of TikTok, with over 43.0 Million downloads has “conditionally” lifted its ban on the infamous Chinese video sharing app just 10 days after banning it across the nation on October 9th 2020. It was banned by Pakistan’s Telecommunication Authority on the grounds that the app hosted “indecent” and “immoral” videos. PTA has now announced that TikTok has “assured” that the videos on the platform will now be moderated “in accordance with societal norms and laws of Pakistan”.

“PTA will be constrained to permanently block the application incase said condition is not fulfilled,” the agency wrote, indicating that the country will not hesitate banning the app again if the company does not meet its moderation promises.
