Christians all across Pakistan are protesting against the catholic minor who was kidnapped and forcefully converted for marriage.
When the 13 year old girl namely Arzoo Raja was alone at home and her parents were at work, she was kidnapped from there. On October 13th, outside Karachi Railway Colony, Arzoo was abducted during broad daylight just outside of her house by an adult man.
Two days after her abduction, the police called upon the parents and told them that Arzoo had married 44 year old Ali Azhar and with her own will she had converted to Islam. Whereas she was not only raped but forcefully converted before marriage.
Ali showed police a marriage certificate which stated Arzoo’s age as 18.
While challenging the validity of the certificate and bringing in a document that rightfully shows Arzoo’s age as 13, her parents have appealed the government to safely bring their daughter back home.
When Rita saw her daughter outside, Arzoo tried to run and meet her but she was stopped by Ali and his family upon which her mother cried and screamed to meet her daughter until she fainted.
Arzoo’s mother Rita stated: “In the name of God, please rescue our daughter, we are deeply worried. Please help us. The abductor and his supporters are terrifying us and we are in danger from these people. Please listen to our appeal.”
Many people in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Hyderabad and other cities are protesting against this.
While condemning the whole situation and others like these, Saleem Michael, a Christian lawyer stated: “The abduction of 13-year-old Arzoo Raja is a challenge to the state of Sindh. It is a challenge to the rule of law and justice. It is a challenge to law enforcement agencies. It is unfortunate that under the shadow of the Sindh High Court, a 44-year-old beast was holding an innocent girl,”
