Partial weekend curfew imposed in Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared a half weekend curfew in Turkey.

He addressed the nation after a cabinet meeting and said that “We are facing a serious situation,” “The number of cases and deaths have reached a serious level, starting with Istanbul, so we need to be more careful.”

As of Monday, Turkey has confirmed another 3,819 new infectious cases whereas 103 mortalities. The number of total deaths has now reached up to 11,704. 

For the first time the daily death toll crossed the number of 100 since the mid of April i.e. April 25.

Restaurants and coffee shops or other eateries have been ordered by the president to turn their service for now to only takeaway.

The curfew would be imposed from this Friday and the timing of the curfew would be from 1700 to 0700 GMT or in local time version, 8pm to 10am The matter of supply chain will not be disturbed.

Cinemas will be shut whereas on the other hand, schools will shift to remote learning until the next years arrives. Other than this, shops and shopping malls have been given permission to open for a several hours only. Only without the individuals who have to go out for work, a partial curfew was already being implemented for persons who are over the age of 65. This curfew has now also been extended to take in those as well who are under the age of 20 to avoid the further spread of coronavirus
