The passengers travelling from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would now only be served the pre-packaged cold beverages and no hot beverage will be served to any passenger. This decision has been made so that the interaction between the passengers and airline crew could be limited to as less as possible.
A PIA spokesperson confirmed that this decision is being made to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) so that the spread of coronavirus could be prevented.
The country is currently facing a second wave of the pandemic and taking all precautionary measures to reduce the effect of the wave is quite necessary.
Passengers who will be traveling on a domestic flight will given a pre-packaged box in which the drinks or beverages will be included hence no hot beverages like coffee or tea other than the cold ones in the box will be served to any passenger.
Other than this, face masks and coverings have been made mandatory while traveling from PIA. Another precautionary step to keep the spread of virus in check.
PIA chief executive officer (CEO) has approved these precautionary measures and these have been in effect from the mid of November i.e. November 16th.
