The renowned video-sharing platform, TikTok, has been banned by Peshawar High Court as a result of ‘immoral content’ being presented on the application. Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan made it clear that the ban won’t be lifted up until the unacceptable content is taken off.
The PTA Director General said in the court that he communicated with the TikTok administration to get the indecent content away from the application but his demand was left unnoticed. In light of the particular condition, the top court in Peshawar stated that the app should continue to be blocked till the management answers back.
A man had primarily filed a request in the high court on September 8, 2020, mentioning that he came up to the court after the PTA and other organizations were left unsuccessful in taking notice of the “immoral and objectionable” content that was being exposed on the app.
He said that such actions are taking the country’s youth off track, in addition to this he said that suicide cases are increasing as well. The PTA and PEMRA were termed as accused in the petition, according to an official written notice.
