Just today different social media platforms were found to be banned in Pakistan. The federal government had today given orders to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to put a hold on social media platforms in the country from 11am-3pm.
The social media applications have been reinstated in Pakistan which were previously barred on the instructions of the Interior Ministry for four hours.
The ministry, in an announcement, said that the PTA has been given the order to shut down the workings of Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, and Telegram and Twitter in the country.
“….complete access to social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Telegram) may be blocked from 1100hrs to 1500hrs on 16th April 2021 across the country,” read the announcement given out by the ministry to chairman PTA.
People had quite some confused reactions to this measure taken by the government as they were not sure if there should be a disruption in social media services in regard to state affairs. People also faced difficulties in contacting each other during the given time period.
The application that were banned by PTA included Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, TikTok and YouTube
