The government of Punjab as of today made the announcement that because of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the province, government will be imposing a thorough lockdown in the Eid holidays starting from May 8 to 16.
Based on the news from the reports the decision was made during a conference lead by the provincial health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid.
The government has stated that in the time period of holidays, all events will be banned in the province; whereas there will be a prohibition on public conveyance. In addition to that, all parks and recreational places in the city will remain shut.
The provincial government stated that barriers will be set up at all the entrance and departure spots of the city, where police, Rangers and army personnel will be set up to screen the circumstances.
“In order to control the coronavirus situation in the province, the next 20 days are crucial,” Dr Rashid said,
She emphasized that because of the third wave of the virus, people should have fun at Eid ul Fitr in a simple manner, further mentioning that people should observe the government’s instructed coronavirus standard operating procedure (SOPs) and demonstrate themselves as responsible people.
