COAS discussed Afghan peace process with Ashraf Ghani

As of today, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani discussed their opinions related to the matter of Afghan peace process.

Both of them sat down in Kabul as the army chief has come to the Afghan capital on a one day visit, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had mentioned.

The ISPR stated that they talked about different matter including the things in regard to of common interest, present progresses in the Afghan peace process, improved mutual security and defense support, and the need for operative border management between the two companion countries.

COAS, while being in discussion with President Ghani, repeated that a peaceful Afghanistan is highly important for peace in general and specially harmony in Pakistan.

“We will always support “Afghan-led-Afghan-owned” peace process based on [the] mutual consensus of all stakeholders,” the army chief said.

Lastly, the Afghan President acknowledged COAS for a significant discussion and thanked Pakistan for its genuine and optimistic part in the Afghan peace process.

Chief of the Defence Staff UK was also there when the meeting was going on.
