Previous opener and present-day cricket commentator, Ramiz Raja, is facing criticism on social media for his remarks on the subject of the Pakistan and Zimbabwe Test series. Ramiz stated that the Pakistani fans would turn on other sport channels if such series continue to happen in international cricket. He further mentioned that Zimbabwe should discontinue playing Test cricket for certain time and concentrate only on limited-overs cricket.
He made these comments when Zimbabwe failed to put up a solid defense against Pakistan in the two-match test series.
The internet had quite some reaction to his comments.
Jarrod Kimber wrote: “New Zealand won their first Test series 39 years after they began. They’re in the first World Test Championship.”
Cricket journalist, Faizan Lakhani mentioned: “Weaker teams will only improve if they frequently play strong and better ranked sides. We can’t isolate a team saying oh they aren’t too good to play with us. Zimbabwe won more tests (3) against Pak than any team other than Bangladesh (7).”
Adam Theo, journalist from Zimbabwe wrote: Interesting. “It’s forgotten that Zimbabwe took a risk and toured Pakistan after years of not being allowed to host home games. And in the spirit of cricket, this is how you repay them Mr Raja?”
