Ghotki train incident claims more than 30 lives

Nearly 32 people have lost their lives and 64 let injured during a train incident involving train crash in Sindh’s Ghotki.

Ghotki SSP Umar Tufail has revealed the total number of deaths till now as he said the number might increase.

The Millat Express was headed towards Lahore and Sir Syed Express was headed towards Karachi when the two trains hit close to the Mirpur Mathello railway station. 

Rescue teams readily came to the place of incident to provide aid to the travelers deserted in the train bogies. 

The Pakistan Army also came to the rescue action.

A representative for Pakistan Railways told AFP a train going from Karachi to Sargodha, disrupted on to a track leading a train from Rawalpindi in the contrary direction.

“Several people have been killed and many others trapped inside,” the official stated.

Mobile phone recording revealed on television from the site presented crushed wreckage.

Azam Khan Swati, the Pakistan Railways minister, said it has been directed to conduct high-level investigation to review the cause of the crash. “It is too early to say whether the accident was due to sabotage or due to the dilapidated condition of the train track,” Mr. Swati stated
