Case registered against JUI’s cleric over video of molesting student

Lahore police has registered a case against JUI cleric Mufti Aziz ur Rehman, his sons, and two anonymous males following a viral video of the religious leader abusing a student came out on social media.

Based on the reports says after the student came forward with the complaintthe case was registered when police came to at his madrassa in Lahore.

The student has claimed Rehman, a former JUI head, sexually molested him and then the cleric’s sons began to blackmail and frighten him with death threats.

“If justice is not done, I will commit suicide,” the survivor said.

Just yesterday, the supervisor of the madrassa where Rehman used to work, said that Mufti Aziz had been dismissed.

Superintendent Asadullah Farooq stated that the cleric and his sons had been told to leave the madrassa and the establishment was not accountable for any of their doings.

On the other hand, JUI Lahore’s secretary-general also released a notification mentioning that after the video, the party had dismissed the membership of Mufti Rehman and that it would continue to be cancelled till the investigation settles.

Aziz, whereas, said the video was two-and-a-half years old, and that the person was being “used against” him.

“I declare on oath that I did not do such an act in my consciousness. I was given something intoxicating and I was not conscious,” he said
