As per WABetainfo, WhatsApp is introducing a new ‘view once’ feature for images and videos on Android on June 30th, 2021.
Recently an announcement was made related to the latest ‘view once’ feature also known as expiring media. The feature permits you to send media that can only be seen once.
The feature is already available on Instagram, but now it is also being introduced to WhatsApp. It also permits users to know if media has been seen by the receiver.
WhatsApp beta for Android 2.21.14.3 is known to be as this feature-friendly version as of now. The initiation for iOS beta testers will come out later.
To verify if the feature is available on your whatsapp or not, check if the option view once is present when you are sharing pictures or videos. The view once feature will also be functional if media is sent to users who do not have the feature supported yet
The feature also lets you select if you can view when the receivers open your media. To enable this feature, turn off the read receipts option. It will, though, still permit receivers to see if you opened the photo or video
