National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf on Tuesday has rejected India’s invitation to a conference of the national security advisers of regional countries on Afghanistan, firmly stating that he would not visit New Delhi.
“I will not visit New Delhi on India’s invitation,” Yusuf said, during a press conference after the signing of a convention between Pakistan and Uzbekistan for the establishment of a mutual security commission to improve bilateral support in security affairs
The NSA continued that Pakistan and Uzbekistan were on the same page on the Afghan matter.
He said that Afghanistan has been at war for the last forty years and the catastrophe in the country has had a straight impact on Pakistan.
“Peace and stability in Afghanistan are vital for Pakistan” Yusuf said, further mentioning that Islamabad considers the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Uzbekistan corridor of huge significance.
The world should think of Afghanistan as a humanitarian issue rather than a political matter, said Yusuf, as he requested the world to engage with Kabul. He advised that abandoning Afghanistan will have negative penalties for the whole world.
