On Thursday, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) Board approved the release of Rs. 8 billion for the smart electric meter installation project throughout the provincial capital.
In addition to preventing electricity theft and monitoring line losses, the project is expected to generate a profit of Rs. 4.99 billion over the next five years.
According to reports, LESCO will bear the entire project’s costs. The newly installed meters will continue to function for the next 20 years, and changing or adjusting the readings on them will be very difficult, according to documents released along with the announcement.
The Lahore Masterplan 2050 was approved and adopted at a meeting of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, presided over on Wednesday at his residence.
He also gave the order to establish the regional, district, and municipal plans in accordance with the population percentages in the transportation, business, and industrial sectors.
