The Khunjerab Pass was reopened on Sunday, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the move as a positive step towards boosting bilateral trade between his country and China.

The premier reportedly welcomed improved business ties with “Iron brother China” in a press release from the PM Office.

The PM declared that the Khunjerab Pass’s reopening removed a roadblock that would hasten the implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and that the restoration of the two nations’ trade route was the reason for celebration.

The journey, which had started in November 2019, had successfully resumed in 2023, he said. According to him, CPEC will move twice as quickly in 2019 as it did in 2018. “CPEC is a gift of progress and prosperity given to the region and the people by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the Chinese leadership,” he continued.

The two nations’ relevant officials and team members received praise from the premier for the return of trade and travel services.
