To reduce the number of forest fires in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP), the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has made a significant effort.
In accordance with the specifics, smoking is prohibited throughout all hiking trails of Islamabad’s Himalayan foothills.
Noor ul Amin Mengal, the chairman of the CDA, announced the ban and said that the organisation had chosen to designate one of the most alluring areas as a smoke-free area.
He shared the news in his tweet stating “Smoking on all hiking trails in Islamabad will be considered a crime. All trails are now declared smoke-free zones,”
It is significant to note that the CDA banned all leisure activities in Margalla Hills earlier this year in order to stop forest fires, dumping, and air pollution.
After a significant fire broke out in the region in April, the additional district magistrate put Section 144 into effect in the Margalla Hills National Park.
A brand-new hiking trail was made available to hikers and tourists in the Margalla Hills in August of last year by the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Environment Wing.
