Lahore Services Hospital Experiences Chaos Due To Electricity Outage

A power outage in the operating rooms of Lahore’s Services Hospital threw the facility into disarray, raising severe difficulties for doctors as well as patients. An investigation committee was formed by Punjab’s interim chief minister (CM), Mohsin Naqvi, to look into the situation; their report has now been turned in.

Key government representatives, including Provincial Minister Dr Javed Akram and the Chief Secretary, were present when the committee, which was presided over by the Health Secretary, presented its comprehensive findings.

As a result of their failure to perform their duties, Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Ehtesham and Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) Principal Prof. Dr Farooq Afzal were fired from their respective positions, according to the report.

A video that was making the rounds on social media showed how difficult it was for the medical staff in the ENT operating room to carry out procedures without electricity. Due to the generators’ lack of diesel, all necessary medical equipment stopped working, leaving patients to suffer in the oppressive heat and humidity.

Those found to be at fault for the error were suspended by CM Mohsin Naqvi. The incident has raised questions about how the hospital manages power failures and the safety of patients in such circumstances.
