According to News, Rana Sanaullah, the interior minister of Pakistan, recently travelled to Iraq for four days after receiving an exclusive invitation from Abdul Amir Al-Sabri, the minister of interior in Iraq.
The goal of the trip was to deepen ties between the two nations and advance collaboration on a number of fronts.
Mohammad Shia al-Sudani, the PM of Iraq, and Minister Rana discussed potential areas of cooperation during their meeting.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to overcoming shared obstacles by deciding to collaborate on defence and counterterrorism initiatives.
The Iraqi PM’s decision to exempt Pakistani pilgrims from paying a visa fee was a significant development during the visit. This means that Pakistanis who travel to Iraq for religious reasons won’t be charged a visa fee anymore.
Another favourable result for Pakistani investors was the result of the discussions. They will soon have access to electronic visa (e-visa) options that will allow them to invest and conduct business in Iraq.(approximately in a week)
The prime minister of Iraq also stated a strong desire to hasten the detainment of Pakistanis who are detained in Iraq for relatively minor offences.
Minister Rana also thanked the interior minister of Iraq for helping Pakistani pilgrims during the trip.
Following this meeting, a 100,000 pilgrim quota for Pakistanis will be allowed to travel during the Arbaeen religious festival.
Along with the current group visas, individual visas will now be accessible, giving pilgrims more flexibility in their travel plans.
