In the just-completed Asian Junior Squash Individual Championship 2023 in China, Pakistani squash player Nauman Khan won the gold medal.
With a thrilling game score of 9/11, 11/8, 6/11, 11/3, and 11/9, Nauman defeated Ahmad Rayyan Khalil in the U13 championship. This victory demonstrated Nauman’s tenacity.
In the first set of the final, Ahmad Rayyan Khalil took the initiative with a 9/11 lead, but Nauman Khan fought back to win with an 11/8 victory, levelling the playing field.
Despite Rayyan’s comeback with a 6/11 victory in the third set, Nauman recovered and won the final two sets with scores of 11/3 and 11/9.
Ahmad Rayyan Khalil’s tenacity was on display in the intense final, which earned him a deserving silver medal and increased Pakistan’s already impressive medal total.
Nauman defeated Hong Kong’s Yen Tsz Long on the way to the championship match with a commanding score of 11/2, 11/5, and 11/6, securing his spot in the showdown.
However, Ahmad Khalil defeated Malaysian Lokkesh Wigneswaran by scores of 11/2, 11/4, and 11/9 to advance to the championship match.
Abdullah Nawaz, another prominent squash player from Pakistan, put on an outstanding performance during the four-day competition in China and took home the bronze medal in the U-17 division.
