The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) and Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) are at odds over money, which has caused the repair plans for the 6th Road Metro Station in Rawalpindi to be postponed once more.
A senior district administration officer attributed the delay in repairs to a lack of funding. The officer said that the caretaker Punjab government will not cover the repairs, which will cost between Rs. 120 and Rs. 140 million.
Following Imran Khan’s arrest, the station was destroyed amid roiling social unrest. The rioters set fire to the metro station and wrecked the automatic doors, escalators, lifts, ticket windows and air conditioning. As a result, people travelling on the 6th Road must walk to Rahmanabad or Chandni Chowk.
