(APP) RAWALPINDI – As a result of the arrival of two more patients over the past 24 hours, the number of dengue cases in Rawalpindi has increased to 101.
According to Dr. Sajjad Mehmood, the District Coordinator for Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC), both patients were reported from the Union Council-79 Dhoke Munshi, Potohar town area.
At the time of writing, 16 of the 26 patients admitted to the district’s medical facilities were confirmed cases.
Dr. Sajjad reported that over the previous 24 hours, the district administration had filed 56 FIRs, ticketed 13, sealed eight locations, and fined violators of dengue SOPs Rs. 62,000.
In the meantime, in order to stop the breeding of dengue larvae, Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema urged the locals to keep an eye on junkyards, schools and buildings that were still being built as well as to remove any standing water after a rainstorm.
He claimed that the anti-dengue campaign’s staff had been informed that any negligence would not be tolerated and that 100% attendance was required.
Cheema gave the concerned authorities the go-ahead to step up anti-dengue surveillance efforts to slow the spread of dengue larvae by routinely inspecting graveyards and other locations.
He also instructed the officials to regularly check in on the dengue teams and update dashboard data.
