It’s anticipated that this excitement for beat-em-up games will last at least until the beginning of 2024. According to a recent announcement made at Gamescom 2023 by Bandai Namco, Tekken 8 will go on sale for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on January 26th, with pre-orders already open.

Tekken 8 is the tenth game in the popular series, and it has an impressive roster of 32 unique fighters. The most recent trailer makes it clear that this game marks the beginning of a “new Tekken saga,” which also happens to coincide with the passing of the series’ longtime foe, Heihachi Mishima.

In addition, Tekken 8 will debut Arcade Quest, a ground-breaking single-player mode that is somewhat similar to Street Fighter’s new World Tour Mode. Players in Arcade Quest can create their own character and set out on a quest that involves competing in Tekken matches in a virtual arcade environment. This idea gives the gameplay a layer of meta-reality.

Confirmed: Tekken and Street Fighter.

By the way, former Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono and Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada both confirmed the existence of Tekken x Street Fighter. It will likely be a follow-up to the 2012 release of Street Fighter x Tekken.

At the conclusion of the EVO 2023 fighting game competition, Harada took the stage when Ono abruptly appeared and reminded him of some “homework” they had to complete. Hearing this, the crowd erupted in hysterics.
