The National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s arrest of the former chief minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, is being contested in the Lahore High Court.
The petition has added the Punjab IGP, NAB, FIA, and other parties as parties.
According to the petition, an arrest warrant was unlawfully issued and carried out by the NAB.
Additionally, the bureau improperly turned the inquiry into an investigation. It gave neither a call-up notice nor a window of time in which to submit a statement.
The petition asks the Lahore High Court to deem the NAB’s arrest as invalid.

The arrest of Parvez Elahi should be halted by a court order in any unreported case.
Moonis Elahi is a self-sufficient and independent worker. The same is supported by higher court judgements, he continued.
The defence attorney asserts that the prosecution has levelled some serious accusations and that they ought to be required to produce evidence to support them as well.
According to a report written by the NAB, PTI President Elahi abused his position while serving as the chief minister by getting 116 projects for his native Gujrat approved.
The report was written in the case of fraud and kickbacks in government contracts against former chief minister Elahi, a copy of which is available with SAMAA TV.

According to the NAB report, he abused his authority as chief minister and used it to favour his preferred contractors when awarding contracts.
The bureau also claims that the PTI president received kickbacks through his frontman after awarding the contracts to his preferred contractors.
The report claims that Elahi launched a number of development initiatives in Gujrat without justification. He acted maliciously by disbursing advance funds for the schemes, it continued.
According to NAB, the former chief minister also used funds intended for other schemes to fund projects in Gujarat.
