Another Surprise as the Price of Petrol Passes the Dollar

A price increase for petroleum products was announced by the interim administration on Thursday, bringing the cost of gasoline to an all-time high of Rs. 305.36 per litre.

The Finance Division has announced that the price of gasoline has increased by Rs. 14.91 per litre and the price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs. 18.44 per litre.

According to the brief statement released by the Finance Division, the government has decided to revise the current consumer prices for petroleum products due to the rise in petroleum prices on the global market and changes in exchange rates.

Fuel prices rose to Rs. 305.36 per litre for gasoline and to Rs. 311.84 for high-speed diesel as a result of the increase.

The petroleum levy was increased by the Interim Government from Rs. 55 per litre to a maximum of Rs. 60 per litre.

Additionally, the cost of kerosene has increased by Rs. 16.37 per litre, to Rs. 233.52 per litre. Light diesel oil will now cost Rs. 210.13 per litre after an increase of Rs. 10.34 in price.
