With assistance from the World Health Organisation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Rescue 1122 department has started a motorbike ambulance service in the provincial centre.

The motorbike service, according to Director General of Rescue 1122 Dr. Khateer Ahmed, will guarantee prompt emergency services during traffic jams and road closures.

As soon as an emergency call is made, it would respond as a first responder, he continued.

The motorcycle ambulance, according to him, was outfitted with a blood pressure monitor, glucometer, pulse oximeter, nebulizer, cervical collars, oxygen cylinders, tourniquets, first aid supplies and medications.

The protocol stated that a Rescue 1122 emergency medical technician would operate the bike and treat patients who were ill or injured right away.

A gradual expansion of this service to other districts is planned by the authorities.

Another Pakistani province, Punjab, has already extended the service’s reach to places that are inaccessible to ambulances.
