Emojis in Google Maps can aid in location recall.

If you’re anything like me, you frequently forget the names and locations of maps, but fortunately Google is here to the rescue. With the aid of emojis, the industry leader in search is making it a little simpler to remember your go-to locations on Google Maps.

The app recently released an update that allows you to add emojis to your saved locations, making it easier for you to remember where you need to go and more personalised. A house emoji can be added to a home, a muscle emoji to a gym, a controller to a gaming area, etc.

You can do this by selecting the Saved tab, creating, or editing your list, respectively. Then, you can add a variety of emojis to your saved places. Here is an illustration from a screenshot that Google posted.

This feature still has a drawback in that you cannot add emojis to Google’s default list, which includes “Want to go” and “Favourites.” Therefore, if you want to see your own emojis in each location, you will need to start from scratch when creating your own custom list. Your customised list can have a name, as well as a description.

Traditional map pins are useful, but they frequently lack personality and uniqueness. Emojis, on the other hand, can express a variety of feelings and meanings.

On Google Maps, instead of seeing a sea of boring pins when you zoom out, you’ll see emojis that stand in for your specific locations. This not only improves the map’s aesthetics but also speeds up your search by eliminating the need to tap repeatedly on each location to identify it.
