The recent controversy surrounding Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been thoroughly investigated, and the inquiry committee has revealed the truth behind a number of allegations.
On July 28, 2023, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) established an inquiry committee to fully look into claims of drug use, sexual assault, and the dissemination of inappropriate videos, including those showing the use of “ice,” at the university.
According to the allegations, these activities were planned and might have a bad effect on the school and its students.
Following are the committee’s findings, which were made public yesterday:
There was no proof found to back up claims that there was a coordinated effort at the university to spread pornographic videos.
The allegations of organised drug and “ice” trafficking also seemed to be unfounded.
However, some inconsistencies were discovered when two to three university employees were found to have engaged in separate illegal activities.
The investigation committee has suggested harsh punishment for the involved officers.
The committee looked over even the smallest details mentioned in the police report during the investigation. Additionally, it looked into the former vice chancellor of the university’s operations.
The investigation also uncovered irregularities in academic and administrative procedures at the university. There are suggestions on how to deal with these problems right away.
