The Pakistan Meteorological Department issued a weeklong rainfall and temperature forecast on Friday, but it also issued a landslip and urban flooding alert.
According to a new advisory from the Met Office, upper Pakistan will experience intermittent rain and thunderstorms from September 15 to September 20 due to the likelihood of monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal penetrating the region.
According to the report, on September 16, a westerly wave is predicted to enter South Asia. Under its influence, rain along with a wind-thunderstorm with a few moderate to isolated heavy falls is expected in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Chitral, Dir, and Swa.
Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak, Waziristan, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, and Bhakkar will also receive rains from September 16 to September 18 with occasional gaps, while in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Tharparkar, Umer Kot, and Sanghar during the period.
From September 17 to September 19, according to PMD, heavy rains may result in higher water flows in local nullahs and streams in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Galliyat, Murree, and twin cities.
The weather service warned that the upcoming wet spell, which is expected to last from September 16 to 19, could cause landslides in the prone regions of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.
