It has been announced that Coca-Cola’s limited-edition Y3000 soda is the first flavour created using artificial intelligence (AI).
Drinkers of Coca-Cola from all over the world were asked to express their ideas about the future using emotions, goals, colours, flavours, and other elements. Coca-Cola then developed the distinctive flavour of Y3000 using this feedback along with information learned from AI.
“We hope that Coca-Cola will still be relevant and refreshing in the year 3000 as it is today,” says Oana Vlad, senior director of global strategy at Coca-Cola. “So we challenged ourselves to explore the concept of what a Coke from the future might taste like.”
According to the statement, “We deliberately combined human intelligence and AI for an upbeat expression of what Coca-Cola believes tomorrow will bring.”
The zero-sugar option will be available for a limited time in a few markets, including those in the US, Canada, China, Europe, and Africa.
AI is also applicable to the creation of drinks. The container “displays liquid in a morphing, evolving state, communicated through form and colour changes that emphasise a positive future,” according to Coca-Cola.
Coca-Cola is not the first food and beverage producer to use AI to create new products.
Even though AI is only just beginning to be used in the food and beverage industry, it is clear that this technology has the potential to drastically change how products are created and promoted.
