According to the Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan exported over 340,237 metric tonnes of rice worth roughly $233.991 million during the first two months of the current fiscal year, a significant decrease of 17.33%. According to the data, there has been a significant decrease from the same time last year.

Pakistan exported a total of 507,144 metric tonnes of rice in the corresponding months of the prior fiscal year (July–August 2022), bringing in about $283.056 million in revenue.

The decrease in rice exports serves as a stark reminder of the difficulties Pakistan’s agriculture sector has been facing throughout the current fiscal year as global dynamics continue to influence trade patterns.

There is some good news in these numbers, though, as the report shows that exports of basmati rice rose by 8.29% over the same time period. This could mean that Pakistan’s premium Basmati rice is still in high demand around the world, which would help the nation’s overall export numbers.

The report provides information on Pakistan’s performance in other food categories besides rice. The nation made $39.338 million during the first two months of the current fiscal year by exporting about 20,539 metric tonnes of fish and fish products.

While the export momentum of the seafood industry remained strong, overall food commodity exports saw a slight decline of 1.65%. Exports of food products totaled $711.748 million, down from $723.696 million in the same period last year.

Food exports as a whole have decreased, which can be attributed to a number of things, including changes in the world economy, trade restrictions, and market fluctuations.
