In a terrifying event on Sunday, a leopard caused mayhem in Parachinar and injured four people as Wildlife Department personnel struggled to subdue the feline.

At Parachinar’s Sabzi Mandi in the early morning hours, the leopard pounced on two unwary victims, starting the terrifying adventure. The under-equipped team from the Wildlife Department then arrived on the spot and started their day-long attempt to capture the powerful cat. However, their efforts were in vain, which spread fear among the people of the Sabzi Mandi, who fled in fright.

While two rescue workers were hurt while making the heroic effort to control the wildcat, the two original victims were quickly taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Parachinar. The leopard’s elusive hiding place within a godown in the busy vegetable market was revealed to the media by Munsif Ali, a spokeswoman for the local Wildlife Department, during a briefing on their continuous pursuit.

For Parachinar, a region unaccustomed to such wildlife interactions, this was a historic occurrence. As a result, an expert team was sent from Peshawar to support the operation, stepping up efforts to catch the leopard.

A curious crowd, including students, flooded the vegetable market in search of a glimpse of the mysterious visitor, despite harsh warnings from both the police and wildlife experts. Authorities pleaded for restraint, highlighting the need to avoid provoking the animal by getting too close.
