The nation’s flag airline, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), is on the verge of bankruptcy; as a result, flight operations have been discontinued. Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has once again ceased fuel supply due to unpaid debts.
Over 20 PIA domestic and international flights were either cancelled or delayed as a result of the stoppage of gasoline supplies, which came about after the national carrier failed to pay its debts despite repeated warnings from Pakistan’s state-owned petroleum corporation.
Flights from Karachi to Lahore (PK 306), Peshawar (PK 350), Islamabad (PK 370), Quetta (PK 310), Bahawalpur (PK 588), and other locally scheduled flights were all cancelled.
A worldwide aircraft, PK 215 from Karachi to Dubai, has also experienced a delay.
This is not the first occasion that the gasoline supply to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been interrupted by PSO. The national flag airline owes PSO Rs 1 billion in debt, and there are insufficient funds to resume supply.
The cessation of the fuel supply is a further setback for the airline, which is already dealing with financial difficulties.
