Everyone will soon have to pay for posting and reposting on X (Twitter).

In order to access basic functionality like publishing on the site, X, formerly known as Twitter, has announced a new subscription model in which new users in the Philippines and New Zealand must pay around $0.75 and $0.85 a year.

Non-paying users will only have access to a “read-only” version, which prevents them from posting anything but lets them read posts, watch videos, and follow accounts.

This action aims to decrease platform spam, manipulation, and bot activity. This modification has no impact on current users in these nations.

Elon Musk, a billionaire, acquired ownership of the site last year, and he has since made a number of contentious modifications to address problems like spammers and bogus users.

Musk even proposed charging a small charge to all customers to address these issues, which elicited conflicting responses from people throughout the globe.
