The funding of private medical institutes in Sindh has temporarily been suspended by the provincial health department. Until they submit an audit report, funds will not be distributed.

In order to secure funds, the provincial health department reportedly implemented stringent regulations for private medical facilities.

All of Sindh’s private medical facilities, including the Indus Hospital and the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), would be subject to the ruling.

The interim Sindh health minister claims that there is no documentation of how the prior payments were utilized.

He said that the health department gave Rs. 87 billion to private medical facilities the previous year. The minister continued by saying that while he had requested the audit reports, the institutions had requested more time.

He made it quite clear that the provincial government won’t give them any more money unless they present a thorough audit report.
