Fawad Chaudhry boycotts general elections 2024

The group led by former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has chosen to abstain from the general elections scheduled for February 8.

The former PTI leader said that the upcoming general elections will be conducted in flagrant violation of the Constitution in a letter addressed to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

He added that the elections were being held in order to remove rivals and prefer their blue-eyed and selected ones, alluding to a great Punjabi poet named Syed Waris Shah’s poetry.

According to a former minister, holding elections without really choosing people in a democratic manner is pointless.

He said that his arrest was made solely to get him to step down from the race. According to Fawad, members of his organisation were detained and threatened with severe repercussions.

Fawad stated that their nomination papers were denied without providing any justification and that although his brother’s nomination papers were approved, he and I were later both named in a fictitious NAB case.

According to Fawad, the Constitution guarantees that the people of Pakistan should be granted the right to rule by democratic means, which includes holding elections.

He argued that a real democracy served as the foundation for the Pakistani Constitution. Recall that a former minister was prohibited from running in the NA 60 and 61 elections (Jhelum).
