The first woman to serve as Punjab’s chief minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, made a long speech detailing her goals for the younger generation. She included measures like free Wi-Fi among the alluring schemes, promoting Punjab as an “economic hub.” Maryam presented a list of promises and stated her commitment to improving the lives of young people in the province.
Reviving the Punjab Education Endowment Fund, sponsoring bright kids to attend prestigious universities, and providing financial support to deserving students based on merit were among the chief minister’s priorities. In addition, Maryam promised to bring back her father’s youth loan program, which included interest-free loans, training in skills, and the provision of computers and tablets.
In addition to emphasizing the need for compensated and more accessible government internship programs, Maryam offered a Rs. 25,000 stipend to anybody doing an internship in the public sector. She also pledged to offer complete assistance, including resources, incubators, and mentorship, to IT firms. Maryam proposed projects like giving pupils electric motorcycles and improving school transportation.
In response to concerns about education, the newly appointed chief minister promised to revise the curricula now taught in schools, guarantee that all children have access to education regardless of their socioeconomic situation, and create education centers for children with disabilities in every district via public-private partnerships. In her ideal Punjab, free WiFi would be available, IT behemoths would be invited to set up shop, and the area’s e-libraries would be revitalized.
With an emphasis on making Punjab an “Economic Hub,” Maryam gave an overview of her government’s pro-business policies, incentives for agreements, and removal of bureaucratic roadblocks. In an effort to promote economic growth, she suggested transforming firms owned by the provincial governments into public-private partnerships.
Modern hospitals in every area, free medications at government hospitals, the first air ambulance, and a motorized ambulance service were all planned as priorities in the healthcare sector.
Maryam demonstrated her dedication to women’s safety by announcing the launch of a special hotline, supporting secure housing for working women, and offering daycare facilities at places of employment. She also vowed programs to strengthen underrepresented communities and a package for the transgender community.
