The newly elected chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, promised to empower young people via innovative programs. In addition to offering free bus rides and iPads, she also announced that students will get e-bikes to reduce their commuting costs.

Two significant transportation projects in Punjab were approved by the nation’s first female chief minister, and as a result, 657 eco-friendly buses and almost 20,000 electric motorcycles would soon be on the road.

The E-Bike Scheme will facilitate affordable commuting for young people, working women, students, and those with disabilities. The goal of the mobility project is to solve problems that college and university students face.

In the upcoming months, the free electric bike initiative will begin accepting online applications. The Bank of Punjab is providing support by providing students in the most populous area of the country with a soft loan.

Students at schools and colleges may now purchase e-bikes under the new program with simple, low-interest payments. With intentions to spread to smaller cities in Punjab, the system would initially be implemented in large cities, including Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, and Faisalabad.

There would be distinct quotas under the plan for male and female pupils. To guarantee the effectiveness and success of the E-Bike Scheme, the process of approving student applications will be closely monitored.

The chief minister of Punjab also ordered the development of a school bus project for female students in each of the state’s tehsils, along with a mandate to lower the upfront payment for pupils.
