It is forbidden for female police officers in Faisalabad to cover up with gowns, burqas, or niqabs while they are on duty.
The senior superintendent of police operations has released this new guideline as part of a set of consistent standard operating procedures (SOPs) for female police officers.
The directive makes it clear that female police are required to keep their faces exposed while on duty. It stresses that the policewomen could not wear burqas or hide their identities while on duty.
The visibility of faces is essential for identification and to thwart any security concerns, according to SSP (Operations) Hasan Javed. “A terrorist may conceal oneself in such clothing as there is no way to identify someone wearing a covered face. Therefore, it’s critical that female cops can be readily recognised,” he said.
Station House Officer (SHO) Madiha Irshad attested to receiving these directives and gave her word that they would be carried out right away. “Orders have been received to keep the faces visible, and we are taking steps to enforce this directive without delay,” she continued.
Officials have stated that they believe hiding one’s face might be a security risk, which justifies the regulation. It is considered necessary to have the faces of the female cops visible in order to preserve security and guarantee that the officers can always be correctly identified.
