According to Express News, the decision of the full court of the case of the special seats of the Sunni Unity Council headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa will be pronounced today at twelve o’clock on Friday. Earlier, a three-member regular bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa issued a cause list at 9:30 a.m., but later a new cause list was released on the Supreme Court website, according to which today The full court will pronounce the verdict on Friday, July 12 at 12:00.

 Earlier, after the decision was secured, a consultation meeting of 13 judges was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa on Thursday, while the consultation meeting continued for more than an hour on Wednesday.
On February 28, 2024, a five-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commissioner issued a unanimous written decision and declared that the Sunni Ittehad Council is not entitled to certain seats. Four members decided to give the seats to other political parties. In the dissenting note, it was said that the seats should be kept vacant instead of sharing among other political parties till the amendment of Article 51 and 106.

 The Sunni Ittehad Council challenged the Election Commission’s decision in the Peshawar High Court. In March, a five-member larger bench of the Peshawar High Court upheld the Election Commission’s decision and dismissed the Sunni Ittehad Council’s appeal.

In May this year, the matter reached the Supreme Court, where a three-member bench headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Athar Minullah and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar suspended the decision of the Peshawar High Court and the Election Commission in the first hearing on May 6, 2024.

 A three-member bench of the Supreme Court referred the matter for the formation of a larger bench to the Practice and Procedure Committee while framing questions of constitutional and legal interpretation. In a committee meeting consisting of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Muneeb Akhtar, a majority decision was taken to form a full court and then the 13-member full court after 6 long hearings completed the hearing on July 9 and reserved the decision. took

There are several examples of such important decisions in the past that were issued on Fridays. Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s rehabilitation decision was pronounced by the Supreme Court on Friday, July 20, 2007. The decision to disqualify former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on imaginary salary in the Panama case was also pronounced on Friday, July 28, 2017. The founder PTI was given a clean chit on the charge of creating foreign properties while Jahangir Khan was disqualified. The decision was also pronounced on 15 December 2017 on Friday.
