Babar Azam’s dwindling performances with the bat have had no affect on his popularity which was on full display as he landed in Australia ahead of his return to international cricket.
The former captain was one of the first members of the touring party which left for Australia after the announcement of the squads. Upon his arrival, he was immediately greeted by fans asking for pictures and with messages of goodwill.
The 30-year-old is making a return to international cricket after a brief hiatus after being left off the squads for the last two matches against England. He will have 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is to find his form with the bat before he is rested again for the Zimbabwe series. With the burden of captaincy behind him, Babar Azam can focus on facing Australia’s bowling line-up as he looks to get back to doing what he does best, score heaps of runs.
The rest of the Pakistan squad is expected to arrive in Australia today.
Pakistan team will bring training in Melbourne from November 1st with the first ODI set for November 4th. Babar is expected to be in the playing XI which is supporting a new look following PCB’s recent overhaul.
