WAPDA chairman visited the Tarbela fifth expansion project to inspect construction progress at key project sites including the tech tunnel and powerhouse.
During a detailed briefing, officials informed the chairman that equipment installation for the powerhouse’s three production units is currently underway, with simultaneous work progressing across six main sites of the project.

Upon completion, the total capacity of the Tarbela hydropower complex will reach 6,418 MW, bolstering Pakistan’s sustainable energy resources.
The project is being funded by major international lenders, with the World Bank providing $390 million and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank contributing $300 million.
