Whatsapp will soon be launching a new feature with which, the messages sent either in a group chat or personal chat, will be disappeared automatically after 7 days.
In the previous version of ‘Disappearing Messages’ feature, users were able to set the duration of how long the messages would remain in private chats using a timer. A clock icon specified how much time before the message vanishes.
Now there will be no customization because based on this new feature by Whastapp, all of the new messages will disappear after a time span of seven days.
In a personal chat, the individuals have the option to whether turn on or off the disappearance of messages but in group chat, this can done only by the admins of the group chat.
If a user has not opened their WhatsApp application in the time span of seven days, the messages will automatically disappear even though the preview of the message might still be showed in notifications till WhatsApp is opened.
Whatsapp website has indicated that if a user has replied to a disappearing message, the cited message might stay in the chat after seven days.
Other than this, if a user forwards a particular disappearing message to a chat in which this disappearing feature hasn’t been turned on, the message will not disappear in that forwarded chat.
