On Thursday, Pakistan’s Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa punished a lawyer for what he called a terrible waste of the “court’s time.”
The attorney reportedly received a 5,000 rupee punishment from the Chief Justice for consuming unneeded court time during a property issue.
Justice Isa observed that instead of calling the court’s attention to relevant papers, the attorney had attempted to mislead the court.
The Chief Justice condemned the petitioner’s attorney for their actions, which he claimed had undermined the court’s confidence.
He responded to the lawyer in front of him, “With this act of yours, the court has lost faith in you.”
Chief Justice Isa also requested that the attorney donate the fine money to a charity of their choice and submit a copy of the transaction to the court as proof.
The court case in question, which has been ongoing for a few weeks, involves a property dispute.
